Days after debuting on digital streaming platforms, Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World celebrated passing its final domestic box office milestone. It’s an achievement that serves little purpose other than satisfy optics, because it’s clear now that the superhero sequel wasn’t quite able to live up to high expectations. It remains one of the lowest-grossing and worst-rated Marvel Cinematic Universe titles of all time, having opened amid a flurry of negative reporting around a difficult post-production period.
